A friend of his said he had more comedy albums than music.... I heard at least twice he liked Tom Lehrer.
Remember, he lived in the SF area as a teen, and used to go to the famous City Lights Bookstore, and the famous "hungry i" is caddy corner, where many greats played. North Beach was the most "hip" place in the country then. In fact, a few steps from City Lights is Vesuvio's, where the Beats hung out. I've been there myself.. The bartender was so nice, he didn't even charge me for my ginger ale the last time I was there..
The first time I was with this German girl I met at the hostel, who also said she loved The Doors (first conversation).. A school friend of mine mentioned Vesuvio's days before I posted on social media (I don't use fakebook anymore) that I was going to SF for a few weeks. We almost went to The Whiskey, but the ride would have been long, and I had only one full day in SF. Plus, they had a KISS tribute band - not my thing.
