Or influence... For me, it was to be myself (but it's fucking difficult being alienated)

That I should not be so much worried about how people will see me in the future, specially in these aspects related to a career. Unfortunately, people don't show much empathy for others. And, generally, when they like someone, they do it for some superficial reason. It seems that people usually like a person because they want something from that person. So, I must be more worried about the search for my own peace of mind than about trying to please people who seem to be incapable of feeling any empathy for other people's problems. Sometimes, I think that, if Jim didn't try so hard to be recognized as a poet and a true artist by people who didn't have empathy for him and any interest in his art, maybe he would be able to find some peace. In this cruel world, we have to think about our own mental well-being so that we can survive.

I've noticed the last few to sign up have yet to post, but you hit it on the nose. I pretty much agree with everything you said, but speaking for myself, I think besides the obvious reasons, a part of me loves Jim because its self-affirming, seeing yourself in him, and like you said, empathy. After I fell in love with the music, I started reading up on him, and I didn't feel so alone. And I don't feel alone here

That there is something to be said for the "live fast, die young" philosophy. Do what you want, if it feels good, do it, party hard, feel good, don't sweat the details and go to your grave high as a kite and feeling no pain.
I sometimes do not see the benefit of getting older. I can see the appeal of quality, not quantity.
I think resonates more today and the times we are living in. Unless you are wealthy, there ain't much out there for you.
If I knew 20 years ago that my life would go the way it ended up going? I would have taken the Jim Morrison route and exited this life early instead metering out my life and clinging to false hopes.
