I've read (and forgot) so much of his antics. But I remember how Jim would yell out answers to questions that even the teachers didn't have, or speak in a made-up language, yell "Hey Motherfucker" in class, leaving the class after telling the teacher he was having brain surgery, etc.. When he'd be late to class, he'd make up stories like his family were captured by gypsies. There were some videos (still are some) of students saying the crazy shit he'd do.
What do you remember?

What do you remember? In 'Friends Gathered Together' a friend of Jim Morrison's recalled that when Jim was in elementary school his teacher made sit alone at a separate table or desk, away from everyone else, because Jim simply could not stop talking. That part of the book was sad because this really stayed with Jim. Doesn't sound like a big deal. Okay Jim, you got into a little trouble in elementary school. So? "I curried favor in school & attack'd the teachers I was given a desk in the corner I was a fool & The smartest kid in class" - Jim Morrison, 'As I Look Back' doors.eu.org/poezje/look.htmlI guess being made to sit in a corner alone would be very embarrassing to a kid. Maybe the other kids gave him a hard time and made fun of him for it. "I was a fool and the smartest kid in class". He was really smart but the teacher made look and feel like a fool. Interesting line. He was thrown out of the Boy Scouts for mouthing off to a den mother. I know people might find that funny but it is possible that these instances either signaled a bigger problem or that these instances were painful for Jim Morrison for reasons which were never revealed. This was good too: "Remembering The Lizard King: Classmates Talk About The Jim Morrison They Knew" archives.waiting-forthe-sun.net/Pages/Articles/lizard_king_remembered.html

This was good too: "Remembering The Lizard King: Classmates Talk About The Jim Morrison They Knew" archives.waiting-forthe-sun.net/Pages/Articles/lizard_king_remembered.htmlI think Jim knew he was always different. It must have been very tough at first, but he might have embraced it later on, and when he was accepted by the community at large (fans), he might have thought, "Where were you at before?" - maybe a reason he never cared for money, because he knew it wasn't truthful. And once Jim became "successful" he might have had an empty feeling. When you're chasing something, you think you're struggling because you haven't attained that, and once you do, if there's still this void, it could be horrifying, knowing nothing you do will change it. I wonder how things would have turned out if his poetry had been a smash, but I think he was a lot smarter than that, and knew they were probably purchased by Doors fans.

I remember reading many times how Jim would walk on ledges, real high, where a fall could have meant death.

I wonder how things would have turned out if his poetry had been a smash, but I think he was a lot smarter than that, and knew they were probably purchased by Doors fans. I also think Jim always knew he was different. And, yes, he was confused by his sex symbol status. He was a late bloomer when it came to the gorgeous Jim Morrison that we see, so he didn't grow up thinking he was a chick magnet. Someone said if you really wanted to embarrass Jim, if you wanted to see him blush and get all bashful, all you had to was to tell him how handsome he was. This even after The Doors had become successful. I wish he had been a writer. I think he could have done anything he set his mind to and The Doors getting a recording contract less than two years after they formed the band shows that he was an achiever. But, he just wasn't cut out for show business, to be a dancing bear for the public. I think he was cut out to be a writer and it would have been great if his poetry had taken off or if he had gotten a publishing contract. I don't know if a long life was in the cards for him but I think he would have stood more of a chance and that he would have been happier.
