I've read from two sources (Friends Gathered Together, Summer With Morrison) that his favorite movie was "Ana-ta-Han" (GREAT movie)
In one of his notebooks, he had "The Battle of Algiers" (my #6 all-time) written on a notebook under the jotting of "1966" (I think Blow-Up was also listed)

Ray said Jim liked Godard, and they mention Vittorio De Sica, and Jim mentions a movie of his, saying how movies can be made anywhere.
I'm surprised I've never read about Jim and Sam Peckinpah
