I used to have a couple of bootlegs on audio tape probably 25 years ago, picking them up in record fairs when I was a student. I loved collecting books on them back then - I remember reading in one that they didn't really do setlist and it was great to hear some muffled discussion between songs as to what to play next.
Anyway - I'm keen to get through as many live recordings on here / YouTube as possible. It's great to see the video alongside the audio. I'm wondering what people's favourites are and what you see as their best live performance - if there was one that illustrated the band in one go, which would it be, which point in time, which persona of Jim as a performer excites you the most, when did they function as their best version?

I've always been partial to the NYC Felt Forum shows from 1970, which is technically cheating, as it's four shows over two days. I've mentioned these shows a few times on this board, so forgive me if it's repeated too much on my posts. Rhino put out a box set years ago, which is now hard to find for a decent price: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_in_New_York_(The_Doors_live_album)That said, it is more than worth your time to listen to all four shows in their entirety. It really reignited my interest in this band, which is part of the reason I joined this board. They were such a great live band when they were firing on all four cylinders, and these shows are a testament to that. PS- You can stream the box set on Spotify.
