I'll need time to think about this, but I'll put it out there now so I don't forget. And maybe someone can start a different thread with "Favorite Line of Jim's in Poetry" for those who are more familiar.

I always thought "When the music's over" has some of his best poetry.
My favorite part:
Cancel my subscription to the resurrection Send my credentials to the house of detention I've got some friends inside

My favorite part: Cancel my subscription to the resurrection Send my credentials to the house of detention I've got some friends inside This might be my favorite, too. Not only the words and sentiments, but the rhythm, which is definitely helped with the multi-syllables. Most writers jot down couplets, and I think its cool Jim wasn't concerned about form, and was free about things.
I also love "Motel Money Murder Madness" (good use of alliteration), as well as:
Cops in cars, The topless bars, Never saw a woman (I love the pause) So alone..........

Funny, I thought about those lines as well - I love LA Woman, the song. It's flawless...
Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with our take on that song. This author specifically describes those lyrics as "bad poetry" -

I think if it moves you, its good... Just like anything else, so if he doesn't like it, oh well, he's just one guy.
I really love the lines in Unknown Soldier, "Breakfast where the news is read, Television, children, fed. Unborn living, living dead... Bullet strikes the helmet's head"
Jim created some interesting song titles (Robby might have written a couple, too) - The Soft Parade, Peace Frog, Yes The River Knows, etc., and a lot of cool phrases. If I wasn't so tired, I'd think of more. Maybe I'll listen to the entire discography while I take it easy.
